Goodbye, Tonsils

So, my niece had her tonsils out today and I got a little idea for a get well present that required some research. Along the way I came across this. Amazing that there is a book for every occasion, isn't it?

And, K., in case you're reading this.....I hope you feel better soon.

The In-Between Portrait

What do with one's free time while your waiting for everyone to entertain you with new posts? Challenge one's self to create a self portrait using only MS Paint. What a crap program, I must say. But I don't think that's entirely what's wrong with this "painting." Looking like a hung-over baglady is what's wrong with this"painting." So have at it, all...it's good fun, if only for a moment.

Miter retiM

If it hasn't been obvious to the few who visit, my brain has gone the way of the dishcloth. The miter dishcloth that is. The first revealed itself to be the perfect size for dish cleaning, but I wasn't thrilled with the thin stripes* of color as they appeared, according to the pattern. So I knit the second** with larger stripes of color and I had a happy happy joy joy moment. It now had so many geometric possibilities. Others before me have long since figured this out, but I unknowingly stumbled on this miter pattern and have subsequently become just as transfixed by it potential.

With this batch in the making, I'm planning a kitchen rug from all my imperfect squares. With every new flaw my brain subconsciously creates, I seem love them more for their experimental qualities in color combos and yarn mixes. As vivid bits of patterned design, they strike me as both mod and old fashion all at once. I love that too.

In a Bind

mun.dan'i.ty: n.

Average summer afternoon, home with the kids. Camera, current project, kid model...oh, and left over pics from dinner two nights ago = no excuse not to post on the blog. Enjoy.

What do you call a green sherbert yarnball on a cone of ombre colored yarn?.........an ice cream dishcloth*

This is directly inspired by this post** at Mason-Dixon Knitting. But as you may have figured, I'm too cheap to buy the book for just one pattern...sweet as it may be. For less than the price of a single scoop, I got the gallon of goodness. What a refreshing internet treat.

And won't it come in handy, as the perfect after-dinner dessert clean-up dishcloth. We (meaning myself and my two not-picky-eater daughters), ate a delicious pot of crowder pea stew a couple of nights ago. It looks far less appetizing in a pic highlighting the dirty stove top, but it was yummy then. I'd share the recipe, but there was none. It's basically a big melange of random stuff mixed with a couple of fresh garden herbs.

And what summer day is complete without a little Blueberry Muffin nailpolish applied by my future cosmotologist to the stars. It 's such a lovely shade on her, don't ya think?

*Lame joke, I know. I'm the least funny person in my house. It's been voted on.

**Scroll down till you see a bunch of discloths. You'll know them when you see them.

Deep Thoughts

Cookie Monster: "Mom, can we make cookies?"

Mom: "Sure, but you have to go get the cookie dough. It's by my computer. *"

Cookie Monster: "Ok....(muttering to self)....If I was cookie dough, where would I go?"

Good Question.

*Don't ask. Just know it involves a toddler.
